How to use this calculator

Enter the start and end dates, choose whether both dates should count, and read the exact day breakdown.

  1. Enter the start and end dates

Select both dates using the date pickers. The order does not matter: the calculator handles reversed ranges and always returns a positive duration.

  2. Choose the counting mode

Select 'elapsed days' for the mathematical difference (e.g. Dec 31 to Jan 1 = 1 day). Select 'inclusive' to count both boundary days (= 2 days), which is standard for event durations and project spans.

  3. Review the weekday and weekend split

The result panel shows how many of the days fall on Monday–Friday versus Saturday–Sunday, which is useful for planning or for checking a contract's working-day assumption.

  4. Use the result in your planning context

For business-day calculations that also exclude holidays, copy the result into the Working Days Calculator and add your holiday list there.
